Is there a way to write a footnote in Dorico? i.e. to put an asterisk etc. beside a note or a measure, and have it reference the player to a footnote at the bottom of the page, with instructions etc.

In adding my voice to the chorus requesting footnotes, I’d make these suggestions. Make it work within Dorico’s existing approach of text frames via a “footnote wizard” that interrogates the user and inserts and sizes text frames automatically where needed. The program already is capable of running footers for page number, code numbers, and the like. No need to try to shoehorn that into a footnote routine.
