For those who use macOS, should I download the public beta of macOS 26 Tahoe?

I really want to see the new features of Tahoe (macOS 26), especially because of the new liquid glass, spotlight update, shortcuts, and fact that the journal app would be on my MacBook Pro, but I am nervous that it would affect Dorico 6. Would it be too risky to try out the public beta? I don’t have another computer to try it on and I do not want to partition my HD.

If you only have one computer, which you rely on, then I’d strongly urge you to resist the temptation for the new shininess.

There is always risk in beta-testing, and you need to be prepared to roll back to earlier versions if things go wrong.

You mean “add a volume to the Container”, at most.

I would wait. I did install the Public Beta on my non-mission critical laptop but definitely not my production machine. Love the new features, especially Spotlight!

Short answer: Don’t!
Long answer: it’s very risky.

Thanks you. I will not do update my macOS. I will wait for as long as it is needed.

The new features, which are actually really powerful and useful, have been somewhat overshadowed by the God-awful interface. :face_vomiting:

Hmmm, I dig it. And remember, it’s only a Beta. Apple already scaled back the glass on iOS though brought it a little more back in the latest from what I’ve read.

Translucent light effects on a white background!!

If you look closely, you’ll see switches!!

Yikes! Hope that’ll be highly adjustable on Mac OS, as I read they’re intending on the iOS side. (It would be a cruel irony indeed to have upgraded to an Apple Studio Monitor so my aging eyes could see the damned thing only for UI elements to become virtually invisible!)

Oh, that’s not good. I noticed less contrast with the new camera app on my iPhone 15 Pro. My aging eyes need contrast LOL! Not a fan of light gray type against a hazy background. Let’s hope and keep our fingers crossed…
