Forcing dotted rest

I would like to show the two highlighted rests as one dotted quarter rest.

Many thanks!

EDIT:

(I forgot to mention that when I consolidate these rests via the standard forced duration procedure and get the desired result, the rests are also modified in the following bar:

It’s probably my triplet settings or values, but for the life of me I can’t figure it out)

What’s the time sig?

Could it be the tuplets that are interfering? (Are they necessary?)

At the least, select the eighth rest, press O (for Force Duration), then 6 dot.

It’s 2/4 local time sig, hidden to masquerade as 6/8

@ebrooks, you are showing examples from Horns and from Trombones. What happens, if you - after having forced the rests to dotted ones - select the rests in the following (third) bar and press Delete?

In trombones, nothing at all happens, but at least the rests worked. In Horns, I can’t get them to consolidate.

Yes, that’s what I’ve been trying to it doesn’t seem to work.

I think this must be the way I’ve input those notes and rests, but at this point I’m totally confused as to what to do.

… if you could post a bit of your project (cut down) we could have a go…
is it Beethoven?

Ohhhhh…

so, when I unhide the brackets for the triplets, this mess is revealed…

I’m not sure how that happened, but it’s taken several hours to find and seconds to fix.

How embarrassing!
