I must be doing something wrong! When I import a midi file and choose a sound for Halion Sonic, I find the volume to be pre-set. I used to be able to amend the volume and right click on Forget CC, - then my choice of volume would be set, but now, in Halion 7 that seems not to be the case - my choice of volume disappears as soon as I switch back to the project. Any clue anybody please??
Hi,
The “Forget CC” function in HALion Sonic SE has nothing to do with the Volume. It’s linked to the Learn CC. You can learn a MIDI CC, which you can use to control the given controller (fader, encoder, etc.). If you want to unassign already assigned MIDI CC, use the Forget CC.
Hi Martin,
So grateful for your advice.
Are you able to help me understand why, unlike previous versions of CuBase, when I change the volume of any midi track routed through Halion 7 it just reverts back to what it was as soon as I exit Halion 7??
It’s evident I have been doing this wrong for years!!!
Thanks,
Michael.
Hi,
Double-check, if there is any MIDI CC7 in the given MIDI/Instrument Track, please.
If you are using a MIDI Track, is the Volume Fader of the track set to Off or any Value?
Hi Martin,
I really appreciate your help.
Yes there is a Midi CC7 in the track, and yes the fader for the instrument in Halion 7 is the one that I wish to set to a lower volume, but it keeps reverting back to where it was.
Michael.
Hi,
The MIDI CC7 controls the fader. So you can either:
- Set the value via MIDI CC. This allows you to change the value while playback. Or…
- Remove all MIDI CC7 events. Then you can set the fader, which will not be overwritten anymore.
Thank you
