Hi All!
Currently in Cubasis we can use the Inter-App option to select an IAA app as the Input Source for an Audio Track and thus record the apps output directly to an Audio Track.
As the title says the feature request here is to allow us to use AUv3 Generators/Effects & Instruments as the input source for recording to an Audio Track.
This naturally presents a few challenge for the developers such as optionally routing the hardware inputs to the loaded AUv3 Plug-In when it’s used as a Generator/Instrument/Effect, technically this can already be done so it’s not a platform restriction.
There are multiple use-cases for this, ‘printing effects’ on the fly when recording guitar or vocals thru effects, record audio streamed from or between apps or devices etc.
Another ‘bonus feature’ could be to allow the user to set the ‘recording’ point, ie. should the recording be done Pre or Post Track Effects on the loaded on a track.
This could also be used for regular Audio Tracks allowing recording with effects.
For optimization purposes when an AUv3 plug-in is used as a source it could optionally be ‘suspended’ when the track is not armed for recording.
If a tracks recording is done ‘Post FX’ the Track Effects could also be ‘suspended’ when the track is not armed as the effects would already be ‘Printed’.
The bonus here if/when implemented would be that other tracks in a project could also be selected as sources for recording making it easy to record/real-time bounce of sections of a project to audio instead of having to use off-line track-freeze which still doesn’t work reliably for all plug-ins that require realtime operation.
I’ll try understand if this is ‘Too Expensive’ to implement but I do also feel that it would be highly appreciated by many Cubasis users.
Take Care & Stay Safe!
