FR: Articulations Engraving Options: Tenuto outside Slurs

Currently, in Engraving Options, Articulations, Slurs; the first option reads: “Position of staccato, staccatissimo and tenuto relative to slurs“ (Outside/Inside).

While I do want my stacatti inside slurs, I’d like my tenuti outside slurs. Would it be possible to split this engraving option in two to accommodate this?

Thanks,

Hi @AndresAbarca, Dorico has three types of Articulation: Articulation of Duration, Articulation of Force and Articulation of Stress:

Being Staccato and Tenuto both Artic. of Duration, they have the same global Engraving Option when it comes to slur interaction. But you can override in the Properties Panel the interaction with the slur endpoint, case by case:

(Not sure if this is what you need. Your request was already being discussed in the Forum, but I think there are reasons why it is designed like that. Possibly someone else can tell more about it. And you tagged your topic as feature request, so lets see what comes  )

Thank you! I am working with individual properties overrides as you suggest, fortunately that’s an option instead of just working graphically in Engrave mode.

The FR is in the interest of saving time, really.

How on earth did you get this picture? For me, whenever I have a passage selected with more than one type of articulation, the entire Articulations tab in Properties just disappears. Combined with the lack of a filter by articulation type this has been a major annoyance for me in the past. Tell me your secrets, I beg you.

EDIT never mind, found it buried in the Preferences > Note Input and Editing:

But if any developers are reading along, I would still love a filter by articulation or articulation type!

Exactly

You can filter your properties panel, using the Search field (clicking on it or activating the cursor into it by pressing Option(Alt)+8:

Yes, but you can’t filter the actual note selection, in order to for example change all > notes into ^.

I see. No: filter by articulation is not (yet) being implemented.
