It would be helpful if the properties panel could display whether a selected stem or beam had been shortened or lengthened (as an offset property, I assume).

You have to select the notehead itself, not the stem or the beam. A bit inconvenient, but that’s how it is.
Ah, there it is. That works, thanks. A bit fiddly when I have two voices on a unison though.
