Select the Split Tool from the toolbar (or toolbox); a local cursor line and Tooltip readout appears, as you hover/move over the Events, indicating exactly where the ‘split’ will take place (screengrab didn’t capture the mouse cursor itself):-

However, using the Object selection Tool and pressing the ALT modifier (Split Tool set in Preferences as secondary tool), this info is NOT displayed. It would be great if this was the same as above.
