Freeze tags

I use the Freeze functionality all the time to keep complex projects with CPU-hungry VSTs and insert effects from exceeding the capabilities of my computer, and here’s a feature-request to make that easier:

Typically, not every track needs to be frozen for performance-optimization purposes. It’s only the tracks that use CPU-hungry processing that benefit from freezing.

In my workflow, I often need to unfreeze many or all tracks to do things like cut or insert time, or to simply make complex edits across many tracks.

When those edits are done, I need to re-freeze those tracks to get the project back into a playable state.

The issue is that I now need to remember exactly which tracks I had selected for freezing, so I would love to be able to tag tracks as “freeze candidates”, and then simply have a “freeze all candidates” command that will go through these tracks and (re-)freeze the ones that were unfrozen.

This would be a real time saver!

I understand the request.
In the mean time, how about having a shortcut to a PLE to add a “freeze cand” suffix (or prefix) to the track you want to freeze at first, followed by the freeze command?
Then, when you want to re-freeze you can have a second PLE searching for the tracks containing the “freeze cand” term and apply the freeze again.

Something like this:

Thank you - this is a nice workaround!
