I’m sorry to say, but I think the one and only crash dump would help developers now is for 2.2.52.

Posting any before is just wasting your and their time.

And it’s even easier to install WinDbg and you yourself will see the culprit of the crashes and most likely it will be some VST

I see. Actually I thought that there would be some meachinsm that not the whole DAW is crashing when a VST 3 plugin is loaded. Is this not the case anymore??

A simple example I have vst ampbox here is the topic [2.2.44] Is still writing crash dumps without visualy crashing - #11 by Spork when closing VST Live it created the same crash dump although in Cubase it did not manifest itself like that I wrote to its developers they think something there they recently rewrote the engine of this VST I rolled back to the old version of this same VST and these dumps stopped for me when closing the program

and here is your culprit, so I recommend downloading the program Install WinDbg - Windows drivers | Microsoft Learn at least you yourself will understand what caused this and also write to native-instruments support

well here’s another VST Live Version 2.2.52 2025.7.21 22.47.46.563 yours is the same, time spent 10 minutes scanning it, what do you think, having thrown so many links, how much time will it take for the developer to review them? so I strongly recommend that you first check it yourself

so you can safely send all these crash dumps to native-instruments support, let them have a headache too)

… we’ve analyzed those latest crash-dumps. And @sergeantt67 is correct : All crash-dumps end in “Komplete Kontrol”. In their Editor. Can you please contact the developers and send them the latest files? They can contact us (write a mail to m.spork@steinberg.de).

I don’t know whether this is necessary. I’m using the latest version 2 of Komplete Kontrol. The current version is 3.5.x which might have solved this issue already.

Since 3.5 contains a horrible bug that does’t let me use the new version I have to stick to 2.9, buy eventually a new laptop or wait until NI has fixed the other bug what doesn’t seem to happen…

But good to know…

However I still thought that DAWs wouldn’t crash anymore with VST 3 plugins that are crashing… Instead I thought that VST3 would let the plugins crash only but not the DAW. Am I wrong here? Doesn’t that apply for VST Live?

This is not a problem with VST Live, there is a specific problem with Komplete Kontrol, so contact native-instruments support, all these crash dumps have already been answered for you Friday, Pre-Release - #12 by Spork, why ask the same thing 100 times?

It doesn’t apply to most apps.
Plugins are extensions to the app itself, so they become a part of the app.
The app calls the initial open method, if that crashes, the app crashes.

Some programs span an extra process which is nice but quite a stretch. VST Live makes note of a plugin before starting (opening) it and if it crashes, it will know the next time and ban said plug. So, sometimes you need to start multiple times until all crashed plugs have been banned. If it crashes too often when opening, you should remove plugs and add chunk by chunk until you find out which types (often, of the same vendor) are the culprit(s).

These crashes happened with the current Komplete Kontrol plugin in version 3.5

Could anyone confirm that there’s still a bug inside Komplete Kontrol that NI should fix? I’ve already forwarded this issue to NI and they promised me that some techs level 2 will get in contact with me within the next 2 days… Thank you!

well I selectively screenshot signed name corresponds to crash dump, a couple of times VST live, a couple of times groove agent is it really that hard to install the program and look for yourself?

after installation click on your crash dump a window will open there run!analyze -v click on it and the analysis will start)

You’ve even tortured the program, just like us))) so it’s taking revenge on you with crashes) just kidding)
