Fumbling with note length change

Struggling here. It’s taken all evening to enter 10 notes.

Currently I want to alter the pitch and the duration of a minim.

I select the note - it’s orange. The input carat is showing it’s lines. I go to the left panel and select minim and the dotted note icon. I go to the score. I click on the note I wish to change. It changes the note PRIOR to the one I selected?

Hmmmm? No idea what is wrong.

If you’re editing an existing note, then you do not want the input caret visible. (The caret is for inputting notes.)

To change a minim to a dotted minim, just select the note and then either press the dotted note icon in the left panel, or just press .

Think of it like a word processor. If you use insert, notes are inserted before existing ones. If you don’t use insert, you overwrite existing notes.

I highly recommend to memorize some keyboard shortcuts for example for note duration.

Instead of clicking minim and then the dot press 7 twice.

At 75, I only have one neuron left! It must be used judiciously!

Thank you people sorted!

I’d highly recommend watching some of the Note Entry tutorial videos, if this sort of this is stumping you.

Troubler is Ben, I have already watched them! More than once. I have been away playing actual instruments and when I come back I find my memory for lists of obscure shortcuts has vanished from my head. Never mind, I never give up. :face_with_peeking_eye:

That’s why I got myself a Stream Deck. 64 shortcuts less to memorize…
