Some functions proposition, that would save some time on repeating tasks that currently require attention.
I hope it might have some interest.
I hope those suggestions might save minutes on every projects to helps to save attention and cognitive fatigue on control and improve reliability.
1 - On batch processor - chaining various batches - lunch and save everything in one click,
it would be convenient to chain several batch (with different process)
in my case it might allow from the 32bit undithered to
- low the volume, downsample, TP limit if necessary, dither : for digital distribution files save in a folder
- dither : save in another folder
- low the volume, TP limit if necessary, NOdither : for apple and mp3 pack and save in another folder.
- saving this groupe off batch in a simple save not saving batch batch.
2 - Duplicate track audio out or audio out plug-in.
duplicate, the track goes into the master as usual and an audio output.
the point is to have a duplicate audio out to be able to monitor the track on a specific audio out.
In my case, it might allow me to chose between AD with the specific process that fit the AD and volume compensation.
so with a click and no cognitive effort, I could switch on my monitoring system from a process to another without watching the screen or various soloing.
it could be a plugin also or another channel track knob ?
3 - Side chain.
in stem master I use super clip. very handy function.
It took some time to find the side chain, read the various topics in here, and for now it seems we can’t side chain yet do we?
could it be a Steinberg plugin (like in the audio duplicate track described in previous post (2) )?
4 - Markers
i use a lot the various WL markers, it’s great.
it might be handy to have the option to choose which markers family to export. (a preset in render option ?)
Eventually be able to create or default named marker. or to create a family of prenamed markers
for exemple loop markers . I use them [to loop and] notify loud or hard sections to cutting engineers, so they spot quickly what part to do a test cut)
I use a lot generic for fade in/out start, but I don’t need to export them, but I need them in the project. for exemple.
naming markers takes some seconds to click/name/enter *X markers = minutes.
selecting & removing some markers from an export also takes a minute *X markers = X’.
5 - Label copy - album report function.
this function is useful also for vinyl master to sent to cutting engineers.
so it might save some time in saving name to be able to preset the saving name using album data or file export name model. exemple
exemple [text]A Side - [artist name] - [album name] etc.
and to be able to invocate preset album export function in the render options.
So for exemple let’s say when we export a vinyl master (exemple A group) it exports also the A group Album report.
and might have the option also in CD making, so it export the [text]CD1 [artist name] - [album name] (based on shema export function also)
It might save quite a lot of minutes on every projects.

but suggesting auto-names and categories / Taxonomies
naming takes some seconds to click/name/enter *X markers = minutes.
In theory, this could already be achievable with a set of watch folders: watch folder 1 writes to folder 2, watch folder 2 writes to watch folder 3, etc.
Probably a bit cumbersome to set up.
Anyway, your suggestion is good and I retain it.

I might give a feedback on how easy it is.
Do you mean, to have audio output to multiple hardware ports?
Like Master Section Left/Right outputs directed to hardware device ports #1 and #2, but also to ports #3 and #4?

probably but earlier in the chain then the Master Section Left/Right outputs.
I meant CLIP > Track ->custom out* & go also to > master > monitor
But probably audio out plugin could be an option,
so we place it wherever we need in clip or track or out or master.
it pick one of the preference audio out in preference PLAY outputs.
/!\ conditon to avoid strange issues : we can’t pick and audio out used in monitoring in Master Section Left/Right outputs.
let me know if you need more detail like a picture or a signal path schematic.

I was requesting the faders back; they were everywhere before. As your thread says repeating task.
Normalizer
Gain
Position
Pitch
Including Compressor
Time etc.
Almost every number in WL6 could be moved using a fader.
@PG1 yes, that’s kind of it, i use those multiple out to feed my various DA for pre master to analog.
Could it be added to regular track to chose when capturing post analog the AD and plug-in chain that fit the track ?
For my use, it might do what I need multiple audio out on capture track is not mute sensitive and we could keep channel monitoring on when we mute the channel.
I hope this long sentence makes sense.
I suppose a plug-in proposing an hw out is more complex. And might have the same monitoring reel time problème to solve does it ?

WL, before version 7 was having option to change values using faders instead of arrows.
Lots of good ideas BUT WL is getting to be somewhat cumbersome and “bloated” with all the customizations that are possible. If these are implemented it would be nice if they could also be TURNED OFF by users who do not need or want them. FWIW

if new function arrive, that would be great it’s not activated by default to keep the WL12 vibe.
most of the things are more or less nearly in wl,
it’s nearly more an ergonomie question, and finding the best way to implement functions that save time without making WL too complex.
and so far, improvements have always been great to me.
