Hello,
I tried to run the 3.0.2 update but it kept saying “Cannot find the .dll, reinstall Groove Agent 3”
Reinstall did NOT fix this.
Then, I found an archived thread about installing with all default values including content - then applying the update - that worked!
BUT - The same thread said that you could move the content to another drive after the install and update - That does not work.
Keeps saying
"The following files are missing:
GA3Base.bin
GA3System1.bin
GA3System2.bin
GA3System3.bin
Please Reinstall Groove Agent 3"
Arrrggh! Is there any way to get the content on another drive AND update GA3?
Okay - I think I’ve solved my own problem:
It involved changing a few registry settings via regedit
Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Steinberg/Groove Agent 3/
Was:
InstallDir = C:\Program Files\Steinberg\Groove Agent 3
VstDir = C:\Program Files\Steinberg\Vstplugins
Changed to:
InstallDir = D:\Steinberg\GA3
VstDir = C:\Program Files\Steinberg\Vstplugins\Steinberg VST
Now it works great!
btw - When you move the bin files to the other drive also move the folders Memory, PresetsFX, and PresetsPA to the same location.
Hope this helps someone…Maybe it doesn’t need to be this tricky, but it’s the only way I could get it to work.
