Gain or Volume in Dorico Pro Slot Rack

Dorico Pro 5 import from MusicXML: Halion Slot Rack. I tried Google, searched the manual and looked for ‘Slot Rack’ in the Dorico forum area.
On opening the Slot Rack the window is headed Halion 6. Clicking on the (Eye) shows all the slots. The Gain in each occupied slot is -4.2.
I’ve seen the same value often in MIDI and MusicXML imports. However, I cannot change this value. When [Play] is clicked it jumps back to -4.2.
I couldn’t see any obvious CC7 events under the MIDI CC Editor. I also tried Play → Automation → Delete all Automation but it didn’t help. I don’t have such a problem in Halion under Cubase, once the CC7 Main Volume MIDI Controller events have been removed. No doubt it’s something straightforward that I’m missing. Thanks, Trevor

Hi @trevorb0353, it seems to be a default value. Here a new project using the Classical Orchestra factory template. All values are at -4.2:

Dorico will apply a playback template when you import an XML (It’s set in Preferences). Clearly those factory settings do not suit you.

If you want Dorico to behave differently, set a different playback template in Preferences.

Thank you both. I’ll read up on playback templates, about which I am currently ignorant. Trevor
