Hi @Robin_Lobel I’ve been thinking and I’d love if in future versions we could unify the Eraser and Amplify tools into a “Gain” tool, where we can select positive or negative gain with a modifyer key. The best way to implement this IMO would be to have both options under the same menu icon (just as it is with different selections) that we can one as the “main” one, and then with a assignable modifier key we temporarily invert that. (No cycling as it is with selections, please!)
Me, for exemple, I use the Eraser much more than Amplify, so I’d leave that as my main and use ALT to access positive gain. It would free up a key command, which would be great, and it would also facilitate smoothing up ambiences.
Also, it would improve and streamline a LOT the usability of Eraser and Amplify as the BEST surgical corrective EQ ever created.

I think this makes a lot of sense. I have previously also looked at the eraser tool as something that is quite similar to the transfer tool, only that there is functionality missing in transfer as to the gain settings that the tool can access, and that transfer is almost an “eraser to layer” type of tool. (I know there is likely reasons behind the destructive nature of eraser being able to do things that a transfer function cannot).
I would love it if these tools could be unified in some manner, or if at least we had better gain settings to work with across all three, e.g.; Attenuate only x Amount dB, for audio that is above Y amount dB, and below z amount dB
All the same, would be curious if there is any overlap in your workflows at all with needing to erase audio data, but potentially retain that audio you are attempting to discard?

I just want to say Transfer tool was new in SLP11. It was a game changer at the time. Previously, if users wanted to work non-destructively, users would have to save a safety; then, cut selections to another/new layer and adjust volumes on layers. We also got envelopes new in SLP11.
So, now @J_Harry you want to combine the Transfer and Eraser tools?
This is what Unmix Levels does
I never have a need to erase any audio: I move unwanteds and wanteds to other layers and then mix the layers; muting my unwanteds layer(s).
I literally never use the eraser tool.
so are you suggesting sending erased info to a hidden, muted layer which user could then backtrack if need be? Hmmm, that is actually a good idea. My non-destructive workflow delivers what I need, yet I do need to approach every job by setting up the non-destructive layers.
