GASE playback template

The Groove Agent playback template is included with Dorico and bundled alongside other maps like HALion Sonic Selection, Olympus, and GASE (Groove Agent SE). I’m trying to use Groove Agent in combination with NotePerformer, but I’m having trouble locating or extracting the GASE playback template.

Is there a separate GASE playback template available? If so, where can I find it for download or how can I access it within Dorico? For those of us that own the full Groove Agent product, I am wondering if this offers any benefit over SE. and, if so, whether a playback template for this product has been made available.

There isn’t a separate playback template for Groove Agent SE, but there also doesn’t need to be. See here:

Set up Dorico 5 to use NotePerformer and Groove Agent for drums

Start a new project including a drum set instrument. Apply the HSSE+HSO+GASE (Pro) playback template. In Play mode, select the drum set instrument so that you can see its settings in the Routing section of the Track Inspector panel. Click the cog button to open the Endpoint Setup dialog. Click the Save Endpoint Configuration button and give your new endpoint configuration a name – the default “Groove Agent SE” will do. Click OK. In the Apply Playback Template window, I’m seeing many duplicated entries, but the HSSE+HSO+GASE (Pro) template is missing.

I’ve reinstalled Dorico 6 (latest update), along with Groove Agent and HALion Sonic, hoping that one of these would include the template you mentioned. Unfortunately, it still doesn’t appear.

Could anyone point me to where I can find the HSSE+HSO+GASE (Pro) playback template, or let me know if there’s a specific installation or library I’m missing?

The playback template names changed in Dorico 5.1 at the end of 2023, so that specific playback template is no longer there. However, you can apply any factory playback template that has GASE in its name in step 2.

I am sorry to have to rouble you again.

I have created an NP+GASE playback template using g the instructions you kindly provided.

If I start a new project and apply the template, select Drums in Play mode, routing is to NotePerformer, with no option to select GASE.

The routing options are:

01 DoricoBeep
02 NotePerformer
03 NotePerformer

I must have missed a step, or misunderstood the instructions. What can I do to resolve this issue?

Did you definitely set up a drum set in the project from which you exported the endpoint configuration for Groove Agent SE?

You could also try setting an instrument override in the Edit Playback Template dialog, so that the drum set instrument is set directly to your Groove Agent SE endpoint.

Here’s a new project that seems to confirm the NP+GASE playback template was created successfully:

However, in a project originally created in Dorico 5 and then updated to Dorico 6, the issue I mentioned in my previous post still persists.

I do wonder if it might be helpful to others if a standalone GASE template could be included in the Dorico package. For sure, it would have saved me a couple of hours, and you time responding to my questions.
