General sound device question

Hi
I’ve been finding that since a few days ago on my Mac there is no sound from my sound card on initial startup. There is audio if I switch to my laptop speakers. Just no audio from the sound card. Everything seems selected correctly in the sound settings.

Only after restarting the Mac once does the sound work properly.

Any ideas what this might be, or how I can restart the sound engine without restarting the laptop?

Hi,

What is your Audio Device, please? Do you have ASIO driver installed? Could you double-check the Output or the Control Room > Monitor Device Port is set up correctly?

I have had this same issue but on Windows 11. Not sure if the mac version has this, but under the Studio > Studio Setup…drop down menu, there is a Reset button at the bottom of the audio device window:

That seems to fix it every time. Bitwig and Reaper never have this issue. It’s like Cubase has a hard time latching onto the audio system/driver on initial load or opening any project. Switching audio drivers also usually fix it.

Thanks for the tip.

Since my problem wasn’t limited to Cubase, I think the issue was powering on the laptop before the outboard devices had a chance to fully power up. “missed the boat” situation. All thanks to my hastiness.
