Is anyone else finding that the most recent Dorico update (6.1.0.6067) broke glissando playback using NotePerformer? They had been working for me for years, but now they are glitching or not playing at all, depending on the various playback type settings.
Sorry to hear you are having problems…I’ve done a few tests with glissandos in Dorico 6.1 and NotePerformer 4.3 and they seem to be working without problem for me. I also tried with NPPE and they also worked as normal. This is both in a brand new flow and in an older existing flow that had glissandi’s in it. Not sure what could be causing this…Maybe others will confirm if they are experiencing similar issues.
Can you provide a sample document, to see if it works for other users? If it works for others, then it’s a local problem on your setup that can be fixed at your end; but if it’s broken for everyone, then that would suggest it’s something that the developers (either Dorico or NP) need to fix.
I submitted a bug to steinberg about this and have subsequently been contacted by Steinberg support saying the developers know about this now and are working on a fix for the next release.
I’ve noticed (in another thread) that simply deleting the gliss that did not work and recreating one (shift O, gliss) solved the issue…
This is listed as fixed in 6.1.10 – currently available on the Steinberg downloads page, but not yet shown on SDA (at time of writing).
The 6.1.10 update fixed it! Thanks!
Hello everyone,
I seem to have landed here because I am still experiencing the same issue with glissando playback in Dorico.
I am using Dorico 6.2.30.6245 (29 May 2026), Dorico Audio Engine 6.1.0.13, and NotePerformer 4.5.1.
I would greatly appreciate any ideas on how to resolve this issue.
Do you have access to the NotePerformer 5.0 installer? I found that updating to that version (as opposed to 4.5.1) fixed the glissando issue when I encountered it a long time ago.
which issue exactly? I find that with NP 4.5.1 both natively and using NPPE that the gliss currently works as expected.
Obviously upgrading to v5 is not an option if the playback engines are required.
IIRC NP 5.0 can still use (existing) NPPE modules, but there were other areas where it caused some folks trouble.
The very first 5.0.0 supported creating an integrated playback engine through large preload files with the original libraries no longer being required (other than for license verification purposes) requiring a long processing time to create. That’s not the same as referencing the original libraries in the way NP 4 does and the results are completely different – in the main unsatisfactory in my view though a few have had decent results with some libraries.
