Global playback transposition across all channels

Is there some way to shift the played back pitches by semitones with one global setting? I often use Dorico for practising and if I have a score with multiple intruments, I need to change the transposition for every single instrument if I do it in HALion like this:

P.S. I do know that I could use the Tranpose dialogue in Write mode for this, but this is even more cumbersome than shifting a few MIDI channels.

Hi @klavierpunk, depending on the usage (you have always the same instruments load, for your practising?) you can set the MIDI transposition in Halion Sonic first for every slot (for example: +1 semitone), then save a new Endpoint Configuration with this settings (called seething +1), then duplicate your used Playback Template, edit it, add “+1” at the end of the name to recognise it, import the new Endpoint Configuration and move it on the top of the list (the instrument contained in it will so have the precedence). And when you want to hear all +1 semitone higher, you can just switch and Apply the new Playback Template. You need a new Endpoint Configuration and a new PT for every interval that you need to switch to, and it will work if the used instruments are the same as your initial setup), but is pretty fast to switch PT ;-).

@klavierpunk
I don’t quite understand why the Transposing function is cumbersome? Possibly because the notes and key change, and you need all to remain in the original displayed key? You could duplicate your project and transpose the duplicate and playback it, while reading the original project.

Thank you for the suggestion, I will try this. But to be honest, this sounds like a lot of work too, at least once. It would be much easier if there was an easily accessible setting within Dorico itself which would adjust the global pitch before sending the notes to any instrument.

EDIT: Yes, the Transpose dialogue is cumbersome for this particular use case because it requires you to think in diatonic intervals and takes multiple mouse or keyboard commands, which is completely fine for writing music, but a lot of hassle if you want to shift the global pitch rather often for practising purposes. (P.S. Plus, for some reason I do not know, there is no native keyboard shortcut to access it, which further reduces its suitability for fast global pitch shifting.)

Have you tried Select all followed by shift-I t-m2?

Just tried it, didn’t know about this function, thank you! Is there an option in this popover to include the key signature to be transposed as well?

Anyway, this will be a welcome function in my future use of transpositions of the score itself, but for the desired use case, it is still much faster to just Alt+Shift+up/down the selection, if changes to the score itself are included. The transposition popover leads to some very weird accidentals when used repeatedly with the same entry. ^^

Nevertheless, a solution without changes to the written pitches and key signatures would be preferred, if there is one.

Unfortunately it only works on notes (after all it is called the Note Tools popover!).
