Go keys 5 with cubase elements 12

Hi folks. Just got gokeys 5 and am trying to get the sounds into CB.
I am using UR44 interface which has midi i/o cables for the controlling keyboard and usb to the Computer. I have the GK5 usb connected into a hub port. I have the ur44 usb connected to another port on the Mac studio. The GK5 is controlling the VST sounds in cubase. Im not sure where or how to bring the GK5 sounds in. What sort of track to create or how to configure the studio setup, or how to adjust the GK5 (should the local setting be off…?) I would have thought the GK5 would have midi for my interface. I do need the interface for the mics and guitar inputs.
Thoughts?

Hi,

The Local Control should be switched Off, to make sure, you don’t send the MIDI data from the GK5 keyboard directly to its synth.

Connect an Audio cable from GK5 Out to UR44 In. Then add an Audio track in Cubase. Set its input and enable the Monitor button to hear the input.

Thanks Martin.
I found this information on an old YouTube video. I was able to hear the actual audio from the GK5 (via the audio channel that i created). I recorded a little. The midi info was recorded and the wave file was recorded. Unfortunately i quantised the midi information and realised that the wave file remained un quantised. In the old days, i could set in performance mode on the old JV 30, assigning sounds to different midi tracks, and the 2 midi cables and audio outputs would allow monitoring from the midi channel, without having to create an audio file to run in unison. In other words, i need to hear the audio somehow from the midi channels. (Like years ago).
Thanks

Hi,

It’s the same nowadays if the synth supports multi-timbral.

Hmmmmmmmm
Doesn’t look good. My wife bought it for my birthday yesterday. Im hoping the shop will take it back. Its like buying a left-handed guitar for a right handed person

Hi Martin. I ended up getting a full refund, and ordering a Roland Juno DS 61key, which states that it is multi timbral.
I have a few days to investigate this and if need be, I can order a Roland Phantom 06.
I don’t know if you are familiar with either of these?

Hi,

I’m not, but the principals are all the same.
