Gradual tempo marks in other languages

Hi guys,

I’m stuck with an issue regarding tempo text in another language. I’m trying to replace “poco rit.” by “un peu retenu”. But when I enter ‘rit.’, and click ‘poco’, the latter stays when I change the text. So I get “poco un peu retenu” or “poco retenu”… (see screenshot)

Any idea how to solve that? Thanks!

Why not disable the poco on the right side under “gradual tempo change” and include the full text “un peu retenu” in the text field?

Of course, that’s the obvious workaround… But I’m curious whether there is a possibility to retain the original functionality

I can’t see any obvious way, myself.

There was originally supposed to be a way of changing tempo language in the Engraving Options under Languages. In fact, the setting was originally there, but did nothing because it was more complicated to implement than they thought, so it was just a dummy option until they figured out the implementation details. At some point it seems it was removed, because it is not there now.

There are several mentions here on the forum that the initial intention was to add support in other languages, but that it was abandoned because it was more complicated than it looked (which I can totally understand). Intrigued now if anybody thinks of any other way…
