DORICO: I don’t understand at all how Groove agent SE works (I’m not familiar with drums!), I can’t find anywhere the way to use it in a composition, what are the procedures to use to include it in an arrangement.
Hi - if you haven’t already seen, this has some useful ‘starter’ tips and tricks…
Groove Agent SE and MIDI triggers | Dorico 5 (youtube.com)
In essence, you’re loading drum/perc ‘samples’ (sounds and MIDI pattern loops) into it called ‘Patches’. And just like with orchestral sound libraries loaded in other sampler instruments, these are then triggered externally (Dorico) to sound as and when you desire.
If you’re very unfamiliar, there can be a lot to take in at first. It can soon get quite complex, but it is also designed to produce very quick and pleasing results with only a small amount of effort. You’ll see there are a number of video tutorials on YT specifically about learning how to use GrooveAgent itself. Run a search and see what results appeal.
I’d suggest that as a great next step for you.!
Once you’ve got confident with some basics (loading patches, assigning MIDI channels, choosing in/out routing), always feel you can return here to ask for more specific help/questions… lots of friendly people on the forum.
And don’t be shy, no matter how ‘simple’ you think the question - we’ve all been there.!
One caution to add to @Puma0382 's introduction. One cannot trigger GASE MIDI samples if one is changing the tempo in Dorico, since Dorico does not yet broadcast tempo changes to the audio engine.
One can assign a Dorico Drum Kit to GASE and enter one’s own rhythms (not necessarily what you seem to be after at this stage), or one can drag GASE’s MIDI samples into Dorico after setting up a compatible general MIDI kit (which may take some trial and error on your part if you have not yet done it–details are included in the Dorico 5.0 Version History).
Yes, good point to note about tempo @Derrek
Merci à tous!
