Groove Agent stops when I use my keyboard sustain pedal - how can I stop this happening?

Hi when I’m in Cubase Groove Agent stops when I use my keyboard sustain pedal - how can I stop this happening? I’ve switched off the pedal as a switch in the global settings on the keyboard but it makes no differentce It happens when GA is playing midi files or just auditioning a style on a kit. I’ve looked in the Options settings in GA and there is nothing obvious there. The pattern playback controller is set to off and i’ve tried it on other CC settings but it makes no difference. Any suggestions? Many thanks VInce.

When you go to the Options page → Global on the bottom right you can select a controller for Pattern Playback reset. Is that possibly set to CC64? It’s called Damper there.

Hi Thanks for relying, but the reset controller is set to off - I’ve tried setting it to other CC numbers - not the damper pedal - but that makes no difference. Are there any other settings it could be?

Hi,
what kind of keyboard do you use? Does it come with pre-installed internal DAW presets by any chance?
I’ve experienced something similar with an AKAI 249 and I had to change the internal Cubase preset to adress the problem.

Hi Thanks for this, the keyboard with the problem is a Korg Trinity V3 ProX. The problem does not happen on my Launchkey Mk4 but that is for single lines and is a 61 key version so cannot really be used like the Korg which is a full weighted 88 key keyboard. Any solution would be great - which preserves that damper key for the piano! Cheers Vince

Hi What internal settings in cubase do I need to change, and how? Many thanks Vince

Hi,
I was referring to a factory DAW preset within your MIDI Controller keyboard. In my case I had to change a complete bank IIRC. Nothing to do with Cubase.

Have you tried to reset your Controller Assignments back to the factory preset (GA/Options page/Bottom left)?

Maybe try to insert a MIDI Monitor as an insert and see what the sustain pedal of your keyboard really does (values, channels) - who knows.

Thanks, I’ll try both options, I have a midi monitor somewhere or a U6 Midi Pro that has software that might help with identifying what is being sent from the keybaord pedal, cheers, Vince.

Well I tried both; the reset made no difference, and the midi monitor shows Sustain CC64 on channel 1 with 127 on and 0 for off both for the Korg, which does switch off Groove Agent temporarily whilst the pedal is depressed (and it comes back on at the right place in the groove when I stop pressing down the pedal), and for the Launchkey. But for the Launchkey there is no effect on Groove Agent when I depress the pedal? It makes no difference if I switch the midi channel in Groove Agent to channel 2 or if I switch off the ‘Use Pattern Midi Pad for Midi Ports’. I’ve also tried switching the Groove Agent and its midi tracks to channel 2 and that makes no difference. Not sure how to solve this issue any suggestions? Cheers Vince
