Grouping individual beats in odd time

Hi Dorico community,

I’m struggling to get individual beats to group in 5/4.

I have a 5/4 bar of quavers/quarter notes, and I want them beamed in 2s (one beam per beat).

I’ve tried using a [1+1+1+1+1]/4 grouping, but this causes it to beam the entire bar together.
All other groupings (1+1+1+2, 2+1+1+1, etc.) all work fine, but it seems that 1+1+1+1+1 doesn’t split the beams.

Is there something I’m missing here? I looked in notation and engraving options (and google) but nothing seemed relevant.

Cheers!

Welcome to the forum, jazz251. In addition to using a time signature of [1+1+1+1=1]/4, also make sure that you set ‘Eighth note (quavers) in quarter note (crotchet) denominator time signatures’ to ‘Break beams at beat boundaries’, on the Beam Grouping page of Notation Options.

Thanks! I’m not sure how I missed the Beam Grouping section, I’ve definitely used those settings before…
