GUIs of effect PlugIns freeze or cannot be opened at all

What can I do (apart from chopping wood) if the user interfaces of effect PlugIns in Wavelab 12 won’t open? I used WL for the first time yesterday and it worked reasonably well. However, the PlugIn GUIs regularly got stuck. Switching the PlugIns off and on again helped. Today I can’t use the PlugIns at all. Are you aware of such problems and any solutions?

Only Steinberg PlugIns are loaded in the master section. Restarting the program does not change anything.

I found what led to the issue with PlugIns not showing up, but not the solution. I consider this to be a plain bug:

Prior to starting Wavelab today, I switched my main monitor to a different device. When I revert that action, the PlugIn window shows up. Switching main monitor back again, the PlugIns stay hidden. I think this is related to a somewhat odd window management implementation in Wavelab, like I’ve never seen it in any software program I’ve used.

Also buggy: The Effect names in the PlugIn area of the Master section in WL are shown in black, unless I click them. Then they turn white and stay so, but I can toggle them back to black (and then back to white) when I click and hold them just for a second. This way the PlugIns aren’t selected, only the name color changes. I can’t see what hidden feature may be linked to this behaviour.
When I select an Effects tab in the PlugIn window on the other hand, only the selected Effect’s name in the Master section appears in white, all the others are black, which makes sense.
Very confusing and inconsistend.

But hey, what did I expect after having “fun” with Cubase for many years? The story just seems to continue within Wavelab. There are some more quirks I came across in Wavelab within only a few hours of usage. Where can I report WL related bugs?

BTW: Windows 11, all related drivers and software are up to date

If a Master Section plugin window is hidden, the plugin name is displayed in black in the Master Section slot. If its window is visible, the plugin name is white. Therefore, what you describe seems to be normal.

Yes, I know. That’s why I wrote:

But since only one plugin can be visible at a time in the Master Section plugin window, it’s illogical that all plugin names stay white when I select them one after another within the Master Section itself. The others won’t turn black, unless I click and hold them for a second (which only toggles the color, but doesn’t select anything). Maybe harder to explain, than I thought it would be…

If so, you are using the Master Section plugins in chain mode. In that case, all plugins are represented in a tabbed window and potentially visible (hence the white names). When this option is OFF, there is one window per plugin (what I thought in my previous message).

In the plugin chain mode, when switching the tab from the Master Section list, the plugin name flashes black and then white for a second. I don’t remember why this was done so, maybe as a small animation to reflect the switching.

Thanks for your help. Someone else just pointed me to this fact. With the plugins in seperate windows, it makes perfect sense now. Nonetheless, when they are gathered in one tabbed window, the all white names really feel like an oversight. Not a major issue though.
