When I write a Minim note, I get two linked quarter notes. I would like to just get a Half note,.
It’s something I guess is straightforward, but I’m transitioning to Dorico Pro. I appreciate your help.

Hi @JeanPlascet, look into Notation Options/Note Grouping:
Here more infos:
Also see this helpful video (there is a one grouping chapter starting at 3:05):
To add to this: Dorico uses some (sensible) rules to mostly show the position of the half-bar by default, and thus may decide to re-write a syncopation. If you don’t want that (I often do) then there are the general notation options mentioned above, but if your particular case isn’t covered by those, you can always apply Force Duration. Use the o key (that’s letter o) to switch it on, and re-enter the notes (or simply change their rhythm and back, which does the same thing). In your case, select the tied note, then type 6o7 . This turns the tied note into a quarter, then sets its Forced Duration, then re-enters it as a half note, which now is written as a single half note. I mostly turn off Force Duration after that by typing o again.
