whenever i open the channel strip on a track and then exit out of the window and open it again, the channel strip will be half greyed out. if this happens the only way to make it go away is if i switch from the channel strip tab to the eq tab, exit out of the window, open the window again, and then switch over from the eq tab back to the channel strip tab

Hold down Alt modifier and click to the Functions menu in the Channel Settings Window. Choose the Reset Window Layout option in the drop-down menu.
