HALION 5

Hi there,

for the drum player midi module, there is no special steps needed, you can simply drag from the midi connector symbol icon, with the arrow pointing upwards, directly into Cubase, or onto your desktop, to get the midi pattern available for further editing.

When it comes to the flexphaser - user arp however, there is a slight extra step needed. Instead of the above, where you simply, drag from the icon into Cubase, or onto your desktop, you must click on the ‘record’ button beside it. It will light up showing that it is ready to accept in an incoming pattern. You then play the pattern you desire and it will be stored in a buffer, until you click this same record icon again, to stop recording. The icon will no longer illuminate and you can then drag the recorded sequence that is in the buffer right into Cubase, or onto your desktop from the midi connector symbol icon to get a dump of what you recorded. you can further tweak and edit to your liking, be it velocity, note length, note arrangement, swing etc, right from with the key editor. Very easy stuff!

In case you guys don’t realize as well, there is an opposite function, where one can drag midi back ‘in’ to HALion 5 for groove quantize reference. When dealing with the user arp and the drum player midi module, you can drag a midi file onto the midi icon, with the arrow pointing downward, instead of upwards, to accept a midi file, which will be used as a quantize reference for the arp and your programmed drum beats. Unfortunately, at the moment however, you cannot drag a midi file from your project arrangement onto this icon to have the above happen. This is something that is being looked into for the future, but for now, you must have an externally saved midi file available to do the above. If you wish to use midi from your arrangement, you will have to export it as a file first, then drag it back in. Hopefully this will be remedied in time.

I hope all this helped. Let me know if you are need of further assistance.
