Halion 7 Sonic cannot find installed content

I installed Halion Sonic 7 included with Cubase 15 and the content through Download Manager but when I open Halion it does not have access to the content. Any suggested solutions. BTW, I removed and redownloaded several times. I can see the content on my drive, but Halion doesn’t see it. Thanks, Ray

Open the content on your drive and double-click any file. This will typically be enough for Cubase/Halion to “find” it.

Having the same issue, but your suggestion did not work. Just brings up the Library Manager.

What would usually happen is that yes it brings up the library manager which then scans all of the directory you had double-clicked in, and updates the libraries for all files in that directory.

Are the files causing you trouble Halion ones? If so, which version of Halion do you own?

One common problem is people downloading library files for the full Halion 7 but only owning a Halion Sonic. Then the Halion 7 files will appear but not be playable.

I upgraded to the full Halion version hoping that would resolve things but it didn’t. I spent over an hour with a Steinberg tech sharing my computer remotely the other day and they could not figure out the problem. I finally had to go to a work meeting and had to give up, but something is definitely wrong. I will report back when a solution is found.

I am wondering if the issue is caused by the fact that I have multiple user accounts

Sounds very likely …

Contact Support, maybe they can conflate them into one.

Hi there
I had same issue with halion sonic 7
The default kit preset and library are already installed and registered
in contain folder and its existing
But when i try to import the kit and library from cubes 14 pro halion sonic 7its not show up inside halion sonic 7

If this happened to me I would uninstall HALion Sonic and the libraries, and I would start from the beginning:
Install HS 7.
Download the library again, from the website and make sure you know where it gets downloaded.
Extract the files and move them to wherever you want, but I’d recommend NOT the C: drive.
Once you’ve moved the library, double-click on any *.vstsound file. This will cause the Library Manager to open, and you should see a dialogue asking if you want to register them.
Look for the “Register In Place” option, and select it. Every library in the folder and sub-folders, will be registered.
When you open HS 7, the libraries should be present.

I deleted my other user account, rebooted and the content now shows up in Halion!

I have only one steinberg account . What do you mean you deleted other account?

I deleted Halion Sonic and library and replaced it with Halion 7 , but the problem still existing.

When I double-click a file it scans the folder then says “No action was performed! The corresponding VST Sounds are already registered”, I already know they are registered. The problem is when I go back to the Steinberg Download manager it still says “install” so it does not realize it is already installed and where it is.

I’m having a very similar problem for months and didn´t solved yet, or anybody in the technical stuff. Double Clicking any sound in the Content of Halion Sonic says “No action was performed! The corresponding VST Sounds are already registered”, but when opening the plugin I cannot have access to the sounds. They all have the little red key. Really ned help fast. I use this plugin frequently.

Hello and welcome,

do you own a Cubase license and use Halion Sonic as part of this license or do you use HS without a Cubase license?

No, I use another brand, not Cubase.

In that case Halion Sonic comes without any content as far as I know. So either you add the free instruments (there are some nice ones) or you’d have to pay for the commercially available content.
BTW - Halion Sonic includes a rather powerful virtual analog synth from the start; most people sleep on that one. The GUI is, however, that of Halion, ie. it is a construction kit rather than a polished end product.

I purchased Halion Sonic 3 and its content several years ago. A few years ago I started to use this same content with Halion Sonic 7 without problems, till now. I guess I’ll have to upgrade to the H.S. 7 content.

Doing that, can you tell me if I can use any of both players?

Is the dongle still plugged? You’ll need it for HS3.

Before I tell you anything that isn’t true I’d rather not say anything at all. My knowledge when it comes to licensing resembles Swiss cheese, with many holes in it.
Maybe someone from Steinberg @Florian_Haack can look into your account, which license you hold, and then advise you.
