HALion Sonic 7.1 External Keyboard only plays slot 1

The built in keyboard plays any of the 16 slots but my keyboard will only play slot 1. When I select another slot, the built in keyboard plays it but my external keyboard still plays slot 1. I think I looked at everything but there’s some magic I don’t know about. Yet.

Hi,

The keyboard is most probably sending the data at Channel 1. Therefore it controls slot 1.

Thanks - I will have a look at the manual and see if there’s a way to change that. I doubt it though!

You can set the MIDI Channel of the track to 2 or 3…

I set the midi channel to 2 and the keyboard in Halion Sonic plays it correctly but my Yamaha keyboard only plays the instrument set in channel 1.

That’s not a problem. The Input and Output Channels are not linked 1:1.

Please take a look in the manual.
It helps to read the whole chapter and following some links to further chapters.

And you need to consult the manual for your Yamaha keyboard to get used to the potential it offers.

And it doesn’t hurt to learn something about MIDI in general. A good start could be…
