What am I doing wrong here? On other projects this changes the diagram type to the pedal diagram without note names. It also is not changing position.
Is it hidden? By default it’s not shown in the score. Library->Layout Options->Players->Harp Pedaling.

This was it! How can I have this set to default for all future new projects? The default displayed above is an engraving nightmare.
That’s just a signpost showing what’s hidden. View->Signpost->Hide Signposts.

But note that if you do so all the current Layout Options will then be saved as the default for the current layout type (score if you selected only a score, parts if you selected only a part).As they say, “if it had been a snake it woulda bit me.”
No issue. I’ve not made any changes I don’t want made elsewhere.
