Harpex not working for me

Has anyone been able to get the Harpex plugin to work in Nuendo?

I’m sure I’m doing something wrong.

I’m having a bit of trouble getting it to work and the Harpex guy just tells me it’s a most likely Nuendo problem stopping it from working.

Are you running Nuendo 14.0.40? People have mentioned that the ambisonic features are broken in the current version, and rolled back to 14.0.32 to get them working again (scroll to the bottom of the page here: https://o.steinberg.net/index.php?id=15418&L=1 )

I’m not sure if this is why Harpex isn’t running for you, however; just a hunch.

Thanks Rodney. I did run into strife with 14.0.40 and rolled back a little while ago so that’s not the culprit.

I get 4 channels into Harpex but its output seems to be a bit of a mess.

Not 100% sure how to set it up and Harpex don’t seem to know how either.

I’m running the plugin in a 1OA track going to a 7.1.2 bed.

It seems like it decoded the 4 channels fine but output them into Nuendo’s ambisonics decoder which messes it up.

I don’t seem to be able the remove or replace Nuendo’s decoder with anything that works with Harpex.

I’m most likely doing something wrong.

I dont use HARPEX but was intrigued. The only thing in the Harpex manual referenceing Nuendo is:

Nuendo
When placing Harpex on an ambisonic track, it is necessary to select the
ambisonic input format in the upper right-hand corner of the plugin window,
even though this seems to be selected by default. Also note that the ambisonic
channels, named 0-16, are not by default routed to loudspeaker outputs. For this,
a new bus needs to be created in ambisonic format where each channel is
assigned to an output.

Perhaps not helpful at all but I recently starting using the audiobrewers ‘AB Advanced Decoder’, it is very similar (i think) to Harpex but is newer and has better support. They are very responsive and it sounds great to my ears.

looks good. There is also VST3 dearVR AMBI MICRO (all the Dear Reality plugins are free now via Sennheiser)

I have ended up using the audio brewers stuff. Automation is super sketchy for me in Nuendo though if you want to adjust rotation etc. I have had to use the plugin remote to get it working.

I have some of their stuff, it’s very good. I’ll check this out. Thanks!

I saw this too and I must admit i didnt find this info terribly useful

I’ve had similar issues before. Make sure you’ve got the right plugin version (VST2 vs VST3) and that Nuendo is actually scanning the folder it’s in. Sometimes just doing a full rescan or restarting Nuendo fixes it
