Have Dorico 3, how to buy upgrade to Dorico 5?

Hello,
I have purchased Dorico 3, but now I want to upgrade to Dorico 5. The computer that has D3 installed is now on the high seas (moving to Europe), but my MacBook Pro now has a D5 trial installed (Netherlands). Since I have it installed, how do I buy the upgrade for D5? Do I have to do anything with eLicenser Control Center?

You need to buy the “Update from Dorico Pro 3.5, Dorico Pro 3, and Dorico Pro 2”. If you do this before 25 September, you will save 50% on the cost of the update.

In order to fully verify your update, you will need access to the eLicenser on which your existing license is located. So what I recommend is buy the update now, while it’s on sale, but don’t redeem the Download Access Code you receive for your purchase until you have your eLicenser (or the computer with Dorico 3 installed) back in your possession. If you are in danger of running out of your trial period in the meantime, let me know, and I can extend it for you.

Thank you so very much. Dorico customer service is phenomenal.
I’ve just purchased the upgrade to DP5, and I’ve received the Access Code (you can probably see that in your system). The part which I don’t entirely understand is “don’t redeem the Download Access Code” part. Would that mean that I just keep using the DP5 until I get the message that my trial is running out?

The reason I recommend you wait is that as soon as you enter your update DAC, the clock will start ticking on the verification process, where you will need to have access to your existing eLicenser-based license to complete the verification. That process has a time limit of 10 days.

Ideally what you should do now is wait until you have the computer with your existing Dorico 3 license back in your hands, run Steinberg Download Assistant on that computer, and enter your DAC into SDA there. That should allow the verification process to be completed then and there.

If your computer isn’t back with you before your existing Dorico Pro 5 trial period runs out, just send me a message, and I’ll extend your trial for you.

Thank you, Daniel. It’s much appreciated.
By the looks of it, my DP5 expires around October 27. I just might need a week or two of trial extension. Our stuff is supposed to arrive in late October, but ETA is being pushed every week. I’ll be sure to let you know.
