Help - Accidentals Vanishing

The flats for one of the players in my piece are inexplicably disappearing.

Every single B I’ve written is a B-flat (as you can see in the bottom left) but the accidental disappeared, and when I try to make it flat again, by pressing ‘-’ or moving the note up and then back down, it doesn’t change. Originally I thought it was just on the grace notes, so I turned all the grace notes into regular notes, sized down, but that didn’t change anything. I also tried changing the noteheads back to normal, but that didn’t help either (and the noteheads are nonnegotiable). Changing the key signature to C major did nothing. It is also not resolved in page view. This is my first time stepping outside the bounds of conventional notation in Dorico, and I don’t know what I could have done wrong - please help!

I was going to also attach the file itself, but I wasn’t allowed to - I’ll try to add that in a reply.

Here’s the .dorico file.

The Wendigo.dorico (1.1 MB)

Are you by chance using a German language keyboard? I was under the impression that “B” in Germany keyboards (and I suppose similar languages) is actually a Bb while entering “H” gives you a B-natural? When I entered a “B” (US Keyboard) in the attached project I got a B natural.

No, unfortunately not. I would assume that H would correspond to Bb, but regardless, the notes that are definitely set to Bb (I’m entering them with ‘-’ and then ‘B’) are having their accidentals vanish when I switch between page and galley view. Thank you though.

I changed the noteheads to default ones, but the flat still wasn’t showing, so I applied it (even though it did Say Bb below in the status bar), and then changed them back again to small slash noteheads.

I spoke too soon. I saved the file, but when I opened it they were gone. I’m assuming that slashes perhaps don’t permit accidentals.

Don’t know if there’s a workaround by editing the noteheads or if it’s something else going on.

Slash noteheads do hide accidentals. If you need a pitched notehead in that form, you will need to make a custom notehead set. (What does it indicate?)

That’s unfortunate. I’m using them to indicate whispers, taking inspiration from Chaya Chernowin, but I could be more specific with them anyways. Time to figure out how to make a custom notehead set (or several). Thanks!
