Hi
Just got a new computer from scan AM 7900x 32 ram.
Everything runs like a gem except the main man Cubase 14.
Box appears and say serious problem and i managed to get this line
Hi
I would like to know what happened for peace of mind.
The thing that i noticed that when i had a midi file made on Genos and imported that midi into Cubase all was fine.
I did switch off my Focusrite 4i4 whilst working in Cubase 14 as i am working with Genos 2 sounds . I found that it did need an update but the focusrite was off .
I started up wavlab and that worked .
I then went back to Cubase 14 and that started to work again and has been ok for an hour.
Another thing i noticed was that the midi file does not appear in my Cubase folder in Projects if Importing it inside Cubase I Import a midi file but it works if you click on the midi file in Cubase startup panel. This did not happen before like that before update to Cubase 14
Maybe If someone reads my crash dumps all maybe logical after that.
I am doing a few more midi’s on Genos 2 and covert to wave for mixing then will be using VST more
Sorry, I don’t understand. When does Cubase crash? In which use case? What did you do before the crash, please?
The MIDI File remains at its path if you import it into Cubase. In the Cubase projects folder, you can see the Cubase projects files (*.cpr) if you save them into the folder.
Hi Martin
Sorry for all this confusion as I am totally confused and annoyed at the moment. Just got a new AMD 7900x Computer and done all tweaks like you do and everything worked on last version. Something has gone odd. I looke in the event viewer and saw this–
C/program files\steinberg\cubase14\component/baios.dll
I do not know what that means as i am not really a computer expert
I sent the crash dumps through Box.com as the files were so say too big.
I loaded a midi file from Genos 2 and set up all channels and started to edit the midi to tighten up things and I also have the cc121 controller on. I noticed when the Jog button Is lit up the cursor will only go forward and not back, so I do not know what is going on there. I turned the controller off and the back and forward controls work in Cubase 14 alright.
After a while a box appeared saying I had a serious problem.
I restarted and then it said Cubase Is not working and no matter what I tried the same thing every time. I have Wavlab and started that up and It worked.. I came out of that and restarted Cubase 14 and somehow It started working again, but the same thing with the CC121 Controller Cursor goes forward but not back in Jog mode. This morning I tried again and I had another episode of Serious problem and saying Cubase 14 Is not working.
I then thought about starting Wavlab up again and that was ok .Came out and started Cubase 14 and It worked again.
I cannot fathom what is going on and also cc121 controller acting up.
That is about it at the moment. It certainly is annoying .
Let’s focus on the crash only, please. So if I understand you correctly, you got the crashes just while working on MIDI Tracks, routed to the hardware (Genos)? What kind of edits did you do? Or did it crash in another scenario but editing MIDI?
I make a file complete on Genos 2 and then Import Into Cubase to edit.
Once all channels are set I started to tighten things up like making notes a little longer or shorter or correcting a few bum notes. That is all I was doing then and after a while had the serious problem popup.
The only positive thing that happened was starting Wav lab and closing down and restarting Cubase. Twice it worked after serious problem notice and another box telling me Cubase is not working. I came accross that just to see if Wavlab would open as I do use vst as well, but not in this case. Once edited I turn tracks to wave and mix.
I have now deleted Norton and now rely on defender. There maybe something In norton because it brings pop ups for everything and I always turn off Internet whilst working .
Things seem to look better at the moment as I have been on editing for an hour now and saved no problems.
Did you look at the Crash Dumps??Box New Link.
It was weird though if starting and closing wavlab Cubase came back. Is it something to do with a dll? Thanks Martin for trying to help as computers throw up a minefield of problems sometimes
What does this all mean.
I have had my Amd 7900 x a few months now and still under 3 Year guarantee from Scan . Another Two and a half years left thank goodness. Computers.AAAAGrH!!!
I have never messed with the bios.
Well martin is it my AMD problem or or Cubase 14?
Another thing happened to me today is that my screen went blank for a few seconds when I was doing a room correction with a mic for my focal alpha monitors. I had only 10 positions left to mic and that happened. I closed Sonaworks Reference and restarted and I managed to get it done a second time of asking. I do not know whether It is bad luck or a AMD7900x problem.
If It is a Scan Computer problem I will have tom have machine sent back for testing. I opened Cubase 14 and that went again. I opened up Wavlab and closed it down and Cubase once again Is working. Thanks Martin and Jari for helping much appreciated but I think I have a way to go yet.
I had another check and mt AMD Adrenalin App needed updated and now i have latest chipset and drivers.
Answering Jari I did check the bios. I have an Asus TUF Gaming X670E-PLUS Motherboard and the latest bios is in Beta, so I will leave that well alone.
I got my machine from Scan Computers In Bolton Uk and I was having trouble soon after With the AMD drivers and contacted Scan which were very helpful and I was one step from returning the machine to have it looked at with all my software In there and the guy there did a remote on me and It looked like he nailed it. So I went along with It and It was ok for a while and noticed that my version of AMD Adrenalin App did not have an update option In there. I then did a check and found out there is a new version of the app with update option in the top right hand panel so i loaded up after uninstall of the older one and low and behold It was advising me to update the drivers. I believe It does the chipset as well.
I worked on the computer for another two hours and solid up to now. Just hope and prey now.
I do know also that my CC121 Controller back and forward cursor only goes forward and not backwards and is jittery in movement and others have reported that. Hope they are on the case as that is very helpful in editing.
I also checked up on the bios and there Is one , but It Is In BETA mode , so leave well alone.
Hi Martin
Thanks for heads up. patience It Is.
Thank you for taking the trouble to help ,much appreciated.
The workaround for me Is to open wav lab and close It down then Cubase comes back.
All the Best
John
Be careful or you will be accused of moaning!!
We could go back to 13 and get a holiday In the sun or the booby prize.
TAKE YOUR PICK with Michael Miles look it up on You tube . Yes/No Gong!!!
That makes me an old fart!!!lol " At least the music was better than now In those days.
Remember Bee Bumble and the Stingers!!
I don’t care if they ban me or don’t let me post. I know I’m not thinking. When Steinberg does things right, I say it too, and they do a lot of things right. But they seem to be getting worse and worse, and they don’t seem to care… and if Steinberg does poorly, we’ll all do poorly.
