Help! no audio from inputs - moving from PC to Mac

at a loss here…as it says, I’m trying to get myself set up on Mac, and while everything else seems to be working fine (plugins, playback sounds good, etc.)–I cannot get audio from my interface into Cubase. I think everything is set up as I had it on my PC, and the track is armed and monitoring, but there’s just no sound coming through. tried most of my inputs, although I’m almost certain that’s not it–all getting nice healthy signal into the interface (and work fine in Logic, so I don’t think it could be the interface).

Focusrite Control software and everything else just installed, so should be up to date with software. (although I’m still on Cubase 14.0.10)

am missing a setting somewhere?

Since your interface is working fine in Logic, it’s gotta be something in Cubase. Few things I’d check—first, go into Studio Setup and make sure your Focusrite is actually selected as the ASIO driver. Cubase sometimes just picks something random. Then go into Audio Connections (F4) and see if your inputs/outputs are set up right. Maybe it’s routing weird.

Also, on the actual track, double-check that the input is set right, the track is armed, and the little yellow monitor button is on if you’re trying to hear it live. If you got Control Room enabled, maybe disable it just to see if that’s messing with anything. That thing causes more problems than it solves sometimes.

Another thing—go into Studio Setup and see if “Release Driver when Application is in Background” is checked. If it is, uncheck it. That setting can cause weird issues. If nothing’s working, try closing and reopening Cubase, or even switch to a different ASIO driver (like Built-in Audio) and then back to your Focusrite. Just kinda forces Cubase to reset its brain.

And if all else fails, start a blank project, add one track, set an input, and see if anything comes through. Oh, also check System Settings > Privacy & Security on your Mac and make sure Cubase has mic permissions, macOS is weird about that sometimes.
