hello everyone,
I’m on Cubase pro 14, I want to recreate this specific bass sound you can hear at min 1:45 of this song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OZX9K9JwlhQ
I have plugins like Vital, Surge, Tag bassline etc. I’m not sure what neutral bass I should start from and especially what knobs I should play with and how. I’m fairly new to this. Can anyone help? Thank you
Hi @mariperla084,
This is not the exact sound but a starting point in Surge!
Select the FM Bass 4 patch, load a Lowpass filter where the arrow is! Then play around with the CutOff :… D:Decay and S:Sustain in the AMP EG Section.
You can also play around in the Filter EG Section as well. See if other sounds are close to want you want, and in other Synths as well!
If you see a clone of this Instrument, it might be easier to achieve the sound using that. I think Muon Software have closed now, but there might be alternatives floating about!
Thank you so much! I’m trying that right now. I was wondering if there is any wah wah effect or something, I cant tell if the “wa” sound of the bass in the song is due to the bass settings themselves or something else
I hear two basses at 1:45. A low one support the harmonies and a whomping synth one.
@Johnny_Moneto The whomping one is the one I’m trying to recreate
You can try Retrologue’s “Gimme Tha Night Bass” preset and adjust that a bit.
But I feel this is a classic 90’s bass that was present in every ROMpler back then. I am looking around a bit.
@Johnny_Moneto I have Retrologue 2 and there’s no bass or instrument called Gimme tha night unfortunately, let me know if you find something, thanks!! I’ve been looking for days but I might not be looking in the right places
Probably Bass settings and the waveform shape! Surge does have internal effects that may help! You should be able to get close.
It does thank you! I need to learn a lot lol
