I’m currently remixing a track in the latest version of Cubase Pro.
How do you do with the stems drifting out of sync? Obviously I have set the tempo in the Audio Pool and have the stem audio tracks set to musical mode but nothing seems to work! Right now I feel like throwing the Windows 11 pc out the window! Can anyone point me in the right direction please.
Do you see any changes in the tempo track?
If you look at your ruler at the top of your project window - what primary time format did you select?
If you look at the individual stems later on in the project that are not in sync anymore: are these copies? Anything suspicious if you look at their info in the pool with regard to tempo and musical mode (select the audio event > Audio/Find selection in Pool; you can apply a key command if you want to)?
Do you use different parts of the original stems?
Screenshots are always super helpful to quickly get to the bottom of a problem
Thanks for the screenshot
Do all stems start to go out of sync “in sync” at that point? That would indicate that there are tempo variations in the original track. In this case, that would be relativly easy to fix since you own the Cubase Pro version.
Have a look at this:
Thanks I watch a lot of Dom’s videos and think he’s brilliant. In this case I believe the original song (which was very electronic) was recorded with a metronome and there is something else underlying that is causing it to drift. It’s very perplexing. I’m going to start a new project with just the stems with the metronome enabled (highly irritating to have to listen to) to see whether it drifts before anything else is added or removed. The correct bpm will be set before importing the stems
The stems drift even on a new project with nothing else added so I will try your glenn’s tip. I think a lot of producers subtly increase the tempo as a trick of the trade. I’m trying to second guess them!
