I have a button to hide just about everything except I can’t find one for hiding the beam. What am I missing?
Do you mean hide stem ( in the lower panel) or do you want to split beam, or unbeam ? ( rightclick - beaming)
No, I had a situation where the stem was hidden but the beam was still visible. It was a dotted 1/8th followed by a 16th. The stems were hidden but the beam was not.
But since asking my question I re-notated the figure from scratch and the beam went away. Never happened to me before.
XML import? That can cause weirdness, and it’s best to select all and reset appearance and reset position (both in the edit menu dropdown).
No. It was something that occurred in 2/4—which probably has nothing to do with it—where I had some irregular beaming as well as hidden stems.

probably because of force duration then. If you specifically told Dorico “notate it this way” it was probably trying to continue to fulfill the command even though you hid the stems.
