I have an orchestral score where the piano part is written-through, the classical way, for both hands, for most of the part; then there is a part where the pianist has to improvise on chord symbols (jazz solo). There, I have made slashes and inserted chord symbols. I want to hide the left hand of the piano only in those parts. Is it possible?
In Layout Options select the Piano layout, then navigate to Vertical Spacing > Staff Visibility and check Allow individual staves of multi-staff instruments to be hidden. However this hides all empty bars in a system . You might also look into Manual Staff Visibility for finer grained control.
Thank you @Vadian! That was all I needed
Hi Vadian,
This hides the left hand staff only in the piano part, what if I want to hide it in the full score? (Only the piano left hand, not the empty staves of other instruments) See picture.
Why would this not work in the full score? One could presumably preserve empty lower staves of other grand-staff instruments with manual visibility.
You cannot combine multiple instruments held by the same player and being able to hide individual staves via manual staff visibility changes. However, I think (and I hope I am not wrong) that you can still hide empty staves for individual staves of a grand staff instrument using the automatic settings on the Vertical Spacing page of Layout Options.
