Hiding rests in piano staff

Hiding rests has often been discussed, but from time to time a new version of this problem arises, e.g. this one: I have a single line in a piano staff and I want certain notes to cross the staff to indicate it should be played with the left hand. “Show bar rests in empty bars” is deactivated.

When I now do create a repeat bar in the second measure, half rests will appear in the lower staff - and it seems impossible to hide them:

A workaround is to create a 2/4 time signature, but then the bar numbers have to be adjusted too.

Am I missing something?

What happens if you select both rests an do a “Remove Rests” from the menu?

You can’t remove the rests probably because there are no notes in this staff either before or after (notes from the upper staff don’t really belong to this staff).

If there are notes later in the left hand, once you’ve entered them you should be able to remove the rests. Otherwise, you can enter a fake note before or after and hide it in Engrave Mode. Then Edit > Remove Rests should work.

Ah, that works. I must admit that until now I had not taken notice of the possibility of hiding stems and rest. On the other hand the question remains why it is not simply possible to give rests the same feature. This question goes to Steinberg

Thank you very much for helping.
