If Yamaha/Steinberg plug-ins appear cut off or incorrectly scaled in WaveLab on HiDPI/4K screens under Windows, the issue is usually caused by a conflict between the DAW’s native scaling and the operating system’s compatibility settings.
If you are using Windows, you need to adjust the Windows compatibility settings. First, close WaveLab. Then, locate the WaveLab .exe file (e.g., WaveLabPro.exe) in the installation folder. Right-click on the EXE file and select Properties. Go to the Compatibility tab and click Change high DPI settings. Check the box for Override high DPI scaling behavior and select System (Enhanced) from the dropdown menu. Note: While this fixes the issue of plug-in windows being cut off, it may cause the WaveLab interface itself to appear slightly blurry.
You can also use the Generic Editor (Generic Control Panel). To do this, right-click on the top toolbar of the cut-off plug-in window and select the option Use Generic Editor. This displays all parameters in a standardized Windows view that scales correctly without errors.
You should also check your system’s scaling factor. If Windows display scaling is set to 250% or higher, display errors can occur in some versions of WaveLab. Try lowering the scaling to 150% or 200% in the Windows display settings to see if this resolves the issue.
The System (Enhanced) high DPI scaling behavior override does resolve this specific plugin display issue - but with the latest version of WaveLab and current NVIDIA drivers, the interface behaves strangely (menus disappear and glitch, some interface elements disappear, etc.) and it also causes display issues with many other plugins, so it’s not a usable option in 2026.
In this case, Windows display scaling is set to the monitor-manufacturer-recommended 150%.
Generic Editor is an option, but a Yamaha plugin should probably work as expected on HiDPI monitors in WaveLab when so many 3rd-party plugins work as expected.
Remove the Yamaha plugins from your hard drive, and you’ll be rid of that hassle. You surely have plenty of alternatives to Yamaha on your drive. When I was planning my audio workstation, I knew the ASRock Challenger A770 CL 16GB would be the best choice for it. Intel’s graphics drivers are known for never causing trouble.
