History Recover Tool

Amazing feature but I have a question.

After saving a file is there a way to still see the edit history or is there a way to come back to an edited file after Wavelab has closed?

What I’m finding is, Edits at my end come from client feedback, they want a change to an edit I’ve made at a few days after I’ve delivered for review, and it would be so useful to have a way to get back to the recover edit history to make recover the particular edit.

After saving a file, yes, but not after Wavelab was closed.

However, there is an indirect way, if you use the montage.
Edit your file as a clip. Select a range of the clip and edit it with one of the 3 possible ways:
2019-12-15_10-08-29.png
This creates a clip to replace the edited selection. Save the montage.

When you reopen the montage, days after, you can see all your edits.

thank you, I use smooth delete for dialogue editing. doesn’t seem to be as user friendly in montage as it is in the wave editor, is it still possible?

There is an equivalence to smooth delete:

  • The option in the Ribbon Tab Fade > Options > Free Overlap must be selected
  • select the audio range, then press Backspace.
This remove the range and creates fade in and out ad the edges.

This being said, switching from the audio editing to the montage, will need to learn new habits.
