Hollywood choirs Diamond and Dorico Pro 5

Who can give me advice?!?
It concerns the use of DORICO PRO 5 and EASTWEST HOLLYWOOD CHOIRS DIAMOND.
On the forum I have not been able to find a satisfactory answer to this question so far.

  1. I have made a 3-part choir work SAT/B in DORICO.
  2. In PLAY I have added the VST plugin OPUS for each voice.
  3. S: Opus - Womens choir - Wordbuilder - replace
    A: Opus - Womens choir - Wordbuilder - replace
    T/B: Opus - Mens choir - Wordbuilder - replace

When I listen to the music as a test, the alto voice sounds a minor sixth higher (?!?)
What am I doing wrong?!? Is it due to certain settings?!?
Is there perhaps a step-by-step instruction to make Dorico Pro 5 and Eastwest Hollywood choirs diamond work properly?!?

Any useful tip is welcome. Thanks in advance!

A sixth is the transposition of an alto saxophone. Maybe Dorico misinterpreted the instrument name on import of an XML file?

Thanks for the tip… unfortunately not the solution to the problem.

  1. I had exported the file from Finale 27 as MXL file.
  2. imported it into Dorico as a new document.
  3. Then created a new SAT/B file in Dorico.
  4. Then copied each voice from imported file “2” to new SAT/B “3”.

When you place the file here on the forum, we could have a look into it, to see if we can find the solution. You can delete the most of the notes. For example leave 3 bars left in the file with the problem. You can also send it in a private message to me.

In the attachment the first page of the file.
As instruments I used Hollywood choirs.
I am curious about the solution.

Hi, I think I found the solution for the problem.
I’m not sure if I see on my pc all things the same as on your pc (do you have a MAC?).
From the three Opus instances you made, I had to search manually the VST3 plug-ins anew.

I hope next will help.
Open the Play tab (ctrl + 4).
Click on “Track Inspector” (left upper corner of the Dorico screen).
Click on “Alt” (under “Sopraan”).
Now I see on my pc in the Routing column (under “Track Inspector”):
“02 - Opus” and Port 1 and Channel 2.
Change “02 - Opus” in “03 - Opus” by clicking on the little v at the right side of “02 - Opus” and select “3 - Opus”. (The Channel now changes to channel 1.)
Click now on “Bas”
Change “02 - Opus” to “04 - Opus” in the same way.

On my pc the pitch is now correct.

The wrong pitch at the alt part was, because channel 2 was selected for “Alt” (and the bas part had also the wrong pitch because of channel 3 for “Bas”)
With the Wordbuilder of Eastwest, it is absolutely necessary, to use just channel 1.
And you need to select for every instrument (or voice in this case) the right VST.

I hope this will work on your pc or MAC.
Good luck (and so we are talking English to each other, while we both are Dutch, I suppose )

Voelt inderdaad een beetje vreemd om Engels te gebruiken, maar zo hebben meer mensen er wat aan🤷🏼‍♂️

Zo is dat!

I followed your advice.
Changed the channels… and now it sounds better.
Thanks for this tip.

And uh… I’m Dutch

En nu maar eens kijken of Wordbuilder goed toe te passen is.
Overigens een heel duidelijke uitleg.
