Horrible vibrato

Hello again. I have been using the Halion Instruments that come with Dorico 5. I think they are pretty good but I can’t seem to locate the button to turn off the vibrato. It would seem that every instrument has vibrato turned on. I can’t believe that the Halion player does not have a way to play the instrument without or at least less vibrato. Has anybody cracked this nut yet? I think I saw something about acquiring some voices that do not have vibrato but I can’t find anything out there to even purchase said instruments.

If you’re talking about Iconica Sketch, note that most instruments have a “Sustain Vibrato” and a “Sustain” patch. You may need to edit the Expression maps to make sure that you’re getting Sustain by default.

Yes I tried that and there was no change in the vibrato. I will check it again as it seems like that should work.

Benwiggy,

I cannot locate the graphics you sent in your last email. I noticed there are no saxophones at all in the Iconic Sketch instruments. Do the expression menus change based on which instrument select in the player?

The image is from the VST plug-in window itself.

If instruments have different characteristics (different range of patches, different key switches, etc), then they need to have different Expression Maps. Some groups of instruments often use the same map, but it depends.

If you still have a problem, upload an example file.
