How can I get a new cubase 6 license?
I would like to ask if I buy the latest cubase elements 14 for 99.99 Euros, will the new cubase license be used to install cubase 6?
No way to get a C6 license now unless you find one used…the change in licensing systems means you can only run old versions back to 12 with current license.
And if you buy used make sure you understand the implications of end of elicenser service coming in May next year.
Sorry, but am I understanding correctly?
Is there no official way to install cubase 6 or cubase 7 on my old windows 7 computer?
The price of progress.
Try eBay.
No.
You can download it from the Cubase website.
I think you should frame your questions in a way we can usefully answer.
Thanks for your help.
I think it’s a shame that there’s no way to officially buy a cubase
You can easily buy Cubase via the Steinberg Website, but not such an ancient release as Cubase 6, from 2011. What you buy is always the latest release.
Cubase is a professional piece of software, so, professional prices. On the other hand, I am continually surprised that Cubase now, costs the same as it did when it was first released in 1989 (or whatever year it was.)
It’s useless if it costs the same if I can’t buy it. = big problem for me
I can download it for free, thanks:) but it won’t work. = big problem for me
I specifically need cubase 6 or 7.
I wanted to be honest.
The need is great dictator.
I was thinking the same, it’s like, hung on, I paid full price back in the day, and now for the same price you get free libraries, a huge amount of very high quality plugins, not to mention the quantum leap in functionality since when I bought the thing…
So, if one has the latest version, I take it should be able to run 6?
Latest version will read projects created in 6 except 32 bit plugins. Why do you think you should be able to buy a really old program? You can’t with any software. It’s like going into a tv shop and asking if they have one from 2011!
If you absolutely want all of the old versions of Cubase Pro, then hurry up and buy a used dongle with Cubase
6 (or up to Cubase 11) Artist or Pro and update/upgrade it to the latest version of Cubase. Then you’ll get all of the previous versions of Cubase as Pro editions, retroactively. If your dongle is old, then I also recommend replacing it to the newest one, so it can hold even longer. Just remember to transfer all of your licences from the old to the new dongle.
If you want to gamble and try to save money, then wait a few months and see if Steinberg will announce one final sale. I’ve heard rumors there will be one last sale for them to transition their users to the new licencing system, but I’m not sure. So it is at your own risk.
If you decide to get old Cubase and upgrade it to the new version, then it is important that you register your Cubase with your Steinberg profile. That way if something happens to your dongle, Steinberg still might provide you a individual solution, as they call it. Meaning, they should be able to replace your old license by providing you with a new dongle. But I don’t think there is guarantee for that either, as this is solved on case by case basis.
I personally think that they should make all of the old software available to those who have the newest version of software, dongle or not. And I even suggested them that over the email, but they firmly said that that is not their plan.
By the way, I also love Windows 7. And I would have gladly continued to use it, if a lot of the software I use was supported on it. I don’t like this whole planned obsolescence thing, and the next October even Windows 10 support will end.
So welcome to the technological rat race of always having to be up to date, or else!
Rumours of Windows 12 being released at that time. That should be fun, with Copilot poking it’s nose into everything., etc.
I’ve seen conflicting info about this. Some will Yes, others will say only back as far as the earliest version you have.
I see. It would make sense I suppose to be able to use as early a version as one bought.
“Let me compose that melody for you, Dave.”
And yeah, it’s going to be exciting to see, what the AI will bring to the table. Although I am reluctant to change sometimes, I’m still optimistic when it comes to enhancing your creativity with having some AI by your side, once in a while. Just to be inspired. As long as you can turn it off and resume on your own, I see nothing wrong with letting it help you with (hopefully) removing your creative block.
So let’s see if it will become as utopic as I imagine it, or it will turn into another Black Mirror episode where you simply can’t escape the AI no matter where you go.
it’s not to the version you bought, it’s any earlier version. Problem being buying a license now cannot give you any pre 12 license as these were on elicenser system.
Sadly…
Not having anything better to do on a Monday evening, I downloaded the installer for Cubase 4 (2007). It installed OK, but on start up it couldn’t get past Kontakt 7 in the plugin scan. I wasn’t interested enough to solve that issue, though.
