How can I get my colors to show sequentially as I have them in Color Set in the Color Palette?

Accidentally deleted the other post, my bad.

I can’t figure out how to make a custom color set that goes from one color and all of its shades, right into the next color with all of its shaded. I tried a color set that someone uploaded here recently and wanted to change it because many of the colors and color shades are too similar, so I deleted some and changed others.

If I have it set to sort colors by Color Tints, it goes from dark to light instead of color-by-color. If I have it set to Basic Colors, it’s either jumbled or divides things horizontally in a why that is difficult to use to me.

What I want is for it to follow exactly how I have it laid out in the Color Set section, where each color goes from dark to light then goes to the next color. It doesn’t matter if a new color starts on the same row as the previous color. How can I achieve this?

I assume you’re referring to the generated color palettes. These are the two modes:

The number of Colors and Tints can be varied, of course.

I may not fully understand your problem, but I’ve noticed that custom, manually added color swatches aren’t always removed. Running Restore Color Set to Factory Settings before generating the palettes did the trick in this case.

Thanks for that. I would like to be able to put the colors in exactly the order I want instead of conforming to the two Sort Color By options, and I understand that it’s limited in that way.

I haven’t tried it myself, but Cubendo Palette Editor might be something you could use to do it.

In the Project Colors setup dialog you can click and drag the colours to whatever position you like.

What @Googly said. Also be aware of the fact that they will be displayed in rows of 8 colours after you dragged them to the position of your liking. Don’t forget to save them as your default afterwards.

Good gawd, can’t believe I never thought to try that. Seems so obvious now that you mention it. Thank you!
