How can I use a capo for part of a piece but not other parts of the piece for a guitar?

I am editing an arrangement for guitar. It calls for a capo for part of the arrangement but not for other parts. The player will remove the capo and o\put it back on depending on where he is in the piece. I have figured out how to put the capo on in Dorico and what fret to put it on. I have not figured out how to take it off only in certain parts of the piece.

You can achieve this with an instrument change.

I already have the part written out completely. How can I do an instrument change where I want the player to remove the capo?

After you’ve added the second guitar as an instrument to the player: Go to galley mode, which will show both instruments as separate staves. Cut the music from the first instrument and paste it in the second instrument for the measures where you want to switch. Go back to normal view to check the result.

I’d use two instruments held by a single Player, but without seeing the music, one cannot determine whether that is practical in your case.
