How can Input/output channels be shown?

Hi Forum

I have an old project which I use as a template. Here the Drumtracks are shown in the project window in a folder called “Input/output channels” Does anybody know why these channels are shown in the project window and others are not??

And can i insert a compressor here before the signal is recorded?

When i create new channels they are not shown as channels only as a mixer strip in the mixer.

I also visited this site to know how to create an input/output channel on cubase 5.
I also need someone to help me out.
