How do I affix a copyright using MacBook Pro?

How do I place a copyright on the first page and subsequent pages of my choral arrangement in Dorico? I use a MacBook Pro(macOSCatalina10.15.7) and there is no Alt key on my keyboard. What mode do I need to be in? Where do I find the circled c symbol? Do I need to create a text box to accept it?

Alt and Option are the same thing. On a Mac (English) keyboard, option G gives the copyright symbol.

Enter the copyright info in File > Project Info and use the standard first page template to have the notice printed on page one. To reproduce it on subsequent pages, one should (in Dorico Pro) add a footer field with the copyright token on the default page template.

Thanks for that info benwiggy. How do I use it to create a copyright? What mode? I keep moving my cursor to the place at the bottom of the page where I want to place the copyright date and clicking but nothing happens. Do I need to create some sort of box to accept the info?

Thank you Derreck. Where can I find File? Project Info? What mode must I be in? What is a footer field and where can I access it? What is a token?

From the sounds f it, you really need to spend some time studying and learning Dorico. The First Steps Guide would be a great place to start.

The File menu.

I’d agree that it sounds like you’re very ‘fresh’ to Dorico, and need to spend some time with some of the videos and tutorials, to discover how page templates, tokens, and other parts of page layout work.

Thank you so much. The frustration is that when I click on this link from your post, instead of taking me there, I get a message that tells me that it is an untrusted site that I should leave immediately as it might be trying to gain personal or financial information. Yikes!

I get the same message when I try to access the manual.

Thanks so much. This worked! I now have a copyright symbol and date on my first page. These are the steps that I followed: Opened Dorico-Selected File (next to Dorico at top of computer screen)-Scrolled down to “Project Info”-typed Option/G-when © came up I typed in the year. Clicked on “apply”(lower right)-closed and reopened document-looked in “Print” mode on first page for applied ©2024. If this is right, the next challenge will be to place it on subsequent pages. Thanks again.

Btw nothing simpler than copy and paste this, if you don’t remember the key combination: ©

I found that after a minor macOS update, I had to disable the fn key in system settings to once again allow opt-g to create ©.
